They left TowerWars to die in the PTL for 3 years, things like Battle Royale never saw the light of day and games that could be interesting but don't get developer support end up relegated to the Arcade lobby. Hypixel doesn't seem to have anything queued up to be their next "mega game". What happens to Hypixel's playerbase when Bedwars starts to die too, what happens when Skyblock loses its luster. Sure, Hypixel has to keep releasing new games and if something better comes out people will play it, but their refusal to consistently support their formerly popular (or even the unpopular games) is what will kill this server eventually. Skywars isn't the first game to suffer this fate of once being insanely popular and then losing its luster to bigger games, look at the Classic Lobby, Blitz and Mega Walls. The game hasn't been updated in years and peaks out at maybe 5-6k players at peak times. Bedwars is similar to Skyblock in terms of popularity on YouTube and Twitch. Skyblock deserves the updates it gets it has the highest player count on the server at all times and the most popularity on YouTube and Twitch. The issue lies within Hypixel's reliance on these massively popular games. Finally, over the quarantine period of the pandemic Minecraft in general saw a massive resurgence in popularity, coupled with the release of Skyblock and now Hypixel is at an all-time high in player count. Eventually Bedwars was released, and this brought even more popularity to the server. Skywars carried Hypixel through arguably the hardest time for Minecraft, player counts were down, and new players weren't joining but Skywars was able to maintain its popularity and in turn keep people on the server. I love Skywars, it's by far my most played game on Hypixel and has probably brought me over 2,000 hours of enjoyment, but the game and what Hypixel learned from it is why the server will die eventually. This is just a thought I've had about Hypixel recently. I'm open for any discussion on this post and any opinion you may bring. I'm reposting this from the Hypixel Forums because I feel like I will get some different opinions here than over there that I'd like to hear.
